Bannock Beckett
The crew of the Princess of Pele has been run as a tight operation by their Captain, Bannock Beckett, for over 30 years. While in his early sixties, he remains as much a force of nature as ever, no less in his prime than ever. Bannock, while an uncompromising shipmaster, has earned the respect of every crew member over the years of his command, and is the uncontested master of his ship. While a ship such as the Princess of Pele makes no allowances for deadweight, during his tenure, Bannock has learnt to accommodate some level of lenience every so often.
Bannock is a deadly close quarter specialist. His monstrous strength alone is a weapon in its own right, but his true destruction potential is accomplished when "Billy" starts singing. Billy is compact dual barrelled shotgun with the subtlety of a wrecking ball in a porcelain shop. Its prowess has been elevated to mystical levels, and it accompanied Bannock for as long as anyone can ever remember.
Behind the brutish manners hides a master strategist, well versed in the art of politics. From a very young age, he understood that survival is more about who you know, and who owes you, rather than how well you can shoot, or how strong you are. With that being said, a few broken bones can often streamline the opening jousts of a negotiation, if your reputation from the pit didn’t already have this effect. Bannock has always walked a thin line, avoiding being branded as an outlaw only thanks to his ability to rely on blackmailing when usefulness becomes insufficient. The more recent upgrades Darwin provided, in the form of ship upgrades and portable equipment have given Bannock and his crew a priceless edge should violence become the only way out of a situation, something he hides very carefully to the rest of the fleet.
